Man Caught After Trying To Steal Poker MachineA man who allegedly stole a poker machine in Canonsburg on Spetember 7th then fled from Cecil Township police when he was being stopped is now in Washington County Jail. James L. Cornell, 30, was charged with theft by Canonsburg police and driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing or eluding police, driving a motorcycle on a learner's permit and reckless driving by Cecil police. Late Tuesday, a bartender at Karen's Korner was just coming out of the restrooms when he saw a man stealing a tabletop poker machine. He then chased him and a second man out the door and saw them flee on a brown or maroon motorcycle. The suspect was described to Cecil police as a black man with short cropped hair, about 6 feet tall and weighing around 230 pounds. The man also had on a red Brothers of Hammer T-shirt. Based on the description, Cecil police Officer Brian Douglas had a hunch and told Canonsburg police Sgt. Don Cross that it may be Cornell. Cecil Police was able to spot and apprehend Cornell. He was positively identified by the bartender and was taken to the Cecil police station for a blood test. The passenger who was identified as Steven Walls, was not charged. |
